One of our favorite foliage varieties to use in our arrangements is eucalyptus. The greenery is often the base to a beautiful arrangement. Greens can change how an arrangement looks or feels. It can add a bit of whimsy to a design or keep the arrangement more clean and tailored. Eucalyptus is a beautiful green-gray colored foliage that compliments many flowers.
There are over 900 different species of Eucalyptus. It is native to Australia, but now grows around the world. Eucalyptus grows in different ways. All share the same aroma for which their leaves are famous, as well as exfoliating bark.
These are our 3 favorite types of eucalyptus varieties to design with:
- Seeded Eucalyptus
You can Identify seeded eucalyptus by its clusters of seed capsules hanging from their stems. They make great accents for wedding bouquets, boutonnieres or garden style arrangements.
- Silver dollar Eucalyptus
Silver dollar eucalyptus has a flat, rounded shape leaf. They are great for centerpieces, to give the design a more organic look.
- Baby Blue Eucalyptus
This type of eucalyptus can be identified by its long, straight stems covered in round leaves along the stem. This can be used to give height to centerpieces, giving them a modern, more ethereal flair.
