Growing Peonies

IMG_3018

Peonies are one of our favorite flowers. Their attractive and lush blooms come in a multitude of colors. Peonies are one of the best-known and most dearly loved perennials. If a peony is well situated and happy, it may bloom for 100 years or more with little or no attention. But to get to that point, it takes some TLC. Peonies prefer a sunny location with well-drained soil. Good air circulation around the plant is also important. Peonies rarely bloom the first year after planting. It often takes three years before you see an abundant display of flowers. But once the plants do start blooming, you can look forward to a lifetime of beautiful flowers. A yearly application of all-purpose fertilizer and a top-dressing of compost is all a peony requires for good health. These are just a few tips, for you to get your garden blooming with gorgeous peonies.

Paige & Derek – Sea Isle Yacht Club

Paige had a beautiful garden vision for her day at the beach. We used hydrangea, roses, tea roses and lots of draping eucalyptus! The centerpieces were so fun to make, we had a variety of vases, footed bowls and tall fluted vases. The mixed designs really created a fun garden mix, accented with rustic wood slices. We love this design style that is simple, beautiful and timeless.

Happy Spring Weddings!

With Spring only 10 days away, we thought we would share some seasonal wedding inspirations!

1

White and lavender lilac, white roses, dusty lavender roses and eucalyptus, create a rustic garden style bouquet that smells fabulous!

2

A bold, bright combination of anenomes, ranunculus, dahlias and colorful seasonal accents, make the perfect bouquet to create a “pop” of color against the bride’s dress. Perfect for pictures!

3

This is a sweet garden bouquet featuring ranunculus, anenomes and fever few, in soft shades of peaches and white.

4

Succuluents add an interesting texture to any bouquet.  These gray-green succulents create a subtle contrast against the yellow craspedia.  The white ranunclus, fever few and ivory stock, soften the colors with accents of seeded eucalyptus.

What are some of your favorite spring flowers?

Romantic Garden Wedding

We met Yuan Yuan in in Spring of 2012.  When she came in she told us that she wanted a sweet, simple wedding with pretty flowers.  As we continued to help Yuan with her wedding, we got to know her overall style and tastes.  Getting to know more about her allowed us to match her tastes and create lush arrangements that fit into her style and budget.

Her theme was a sweet garden wedding.  Take a look at these awesome pictures taken by Claire Love Photography…
